IXEMPRA® (ixabepilone) is a prescription medicine used to treat locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer when certain other medicines have not worked or no longer work. IXEMPRA can be used alone or with another cancer medicine called Xeloda® (capecitabine).
Locally advanced means the cancer is large and/or has spread from where it started to nearby areas such as the skin or chest wall or to lymph nodes in the armpit area. It has not spread to distant organs. Metastatic means the cancer has spread from where it started to distant parts of the body.
